AGATE SLICE

This attractive piece of jewelry is truly one of a
kind because no two agate slices are exctly alike.
This agate slice is Brazilian banded agate, and the
cut slices comes from agate nodule. A nodule or
geode is a ball of rock with an outer mineral shell,
the inside containing layers of agate. The silica
inside the cavity of the nodules solidifies into
agate, a process taking approximately 50 million
years. When the agate nodule is carefully cut into
thin layers and then polished a gemstone with
spectacular banding patterns and colors is created .
