Margaret Holland Sargent painter

With a Name like Sargent, You've Got to be Good

When you first meet Margaret Holland Sargent you may already be aware of her career as an
artist, possibly have seen a few of her portraits. That is not enough to prepare you for the small, elegant woman you are about to meet one-to-one, on a writer-to-artist basis. Gracious, unruffled, she serves the lunch she has thoughtfully prepared.

The sprawling open rooms - - living room, dining area, foyer and more - -- seems to spread forever, looking over a panoramic view of Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and West Los Angeles.
The rooms with their handsome, understated decor offer a perfect backdrop for her portraits. A
carefully selected few are skillfully lighted to show off the area as well as the paintings themselves in the most complimentary way possible.

Today Margaret Holland Sargent is recognized as one of the nation's finest portrait artist. Her
subjects range from toddlers to business tycoons, from teenagers to Top Brass - from former
President Jimmy Carter and General Alexabder M Haig, Jr. to the children of close friends. She
has executed literally hundreds of portraits for individuals, clients, organizations and publications. She is the only woman member on the panel of the National Portrait Seminar,
held annually in New York City.
"To paint light. To reproduce an uncanny likeness. To please the subject as well as myself. These are my goals while I strive to create a lasting work of art."
Southwest Art - magazine - publication
