Josephine Cochran's automatic dishwasher, invented in 1893, was at first a hit only with hotels
and large restaurants. But it wasn't until Kitchen Aid introduced the appliance that the public came to know the invention . Then in the 1950s the electric dishwasher became widespread as a
labor-saving device.

In 1907, Arthur Scott of the Scott Paper Company introduced Sani-Towels to keep illness
from being passed along in Philadelphia classrooms. It wasn't until 1924 that Kleenex was
born. Its original mission was to remove makeup. Today this indispensable classic is used to
wipe everything from runny noses to dusty keyboards.
